March for Science and More Random Photos

On Earth Day we took Anna and Jane to the March for Science- Kansas City. We missed the actual March portion because we had soccer and pictures that same morning but I was still glad we went late. There were activities for kids and we were able to hear some speeches.

Our decision to attend the March is pretty straightforward. The current administration has attacked science on numerous fronts. From attempting to cut funds to research (NIH grants), deleting climate change data from the EPA website, attempting to control the data reported by the EPA, appointing someone against the EPA to be in charge of the EPA, continuing to spread the lies that vaccines cause autism, attempting to implement a travel ban that restricts students, doctors, and professionals to enter the country (or be able to leave the US to visit family for fear of not being able to return). The list goes on and on. Our attendance was us stating that none of this is okay.  Kevin and I have made careers in science related fields- it's not okay. Each and every one of us benefit from science each and every single day- the attack on science is NOT okay.

I was proud be with my family and stand up for something as important as science. It was even more fitting that it was Earth Day.

Afterwards we walked around and stopped to grab something to eat. Wrestling with Kevin in the grass may have been the girls favorite part of the day :)

Goofing around at Panera.

We were close to Crown Center so we had to check out the fountains.

These are actually from back in March but they were sent from my friend so were overlooked. We went to a fun playdate at Meg's house. We don't get to see Meg and Margot as often as we'd like so this was a fun treat.

Amanda was there with her boys earlier but with the chaos of 5 kids we failed at taking pictures haha.

So much fun doing artwork with friends!!!

Amanda sent me some of the pictures she took during soccer.

A post game ritual of attacking Mr Kevin/Daddy!

Even though Jane would have loved to have been playing soccer too she had lots of fun with Eric on the sidelines.

I love this picture so much. Even though you can't see their faces you can feel the joy. It makes me happy.

Sometimes we get fancy when we build towers.

So fancy!

Other times we dress up as super heroes and chase "bad guys". Usually I'm the bad guy or monster.
